DD to fund commissioned prog in NE

Doordarshan will provide adequate funds for commissioning of programmes to be undertaken by the private producers of North Eastern region.

In a recent letter to Kiren Rijiju, BJP MP from Arunachal Pradesh, the Deputy Director General of DDK, Ashok Jailkhani, said in the last financial year commissioning has already been undertaken at all the kendras of N E region, except DDK Guwahati and Programme Production Centre (PPC), Guwahati.Commissioning at these two kendras will be undertaken as and when the latest guidelines which are under revision, are approved by Prasar Bharati, the letter said.

Rijiju, who wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on March 27 last regarding the Prime Minister’s initiative for software development in North East was informed that Prasar Bharati has alrady undertaken commissioning programmes for 2006-07 at nine kendras in NE.

Allocation of budget in respect of above kendras has already been approved in case of selected producers and payment also been made to the producers who had submitted their programmes, the Prasar Bharati official further said.
