AICC show cause to Subba More trouble for controversial MP Mani Kumar Subba, with AICC issuing him a show-cause notice for his outburst against State Education Minister, Ripun Bora. Apparently trying to stem the infighting in the Party, AICC general secretary in-charge for Assam, Digvijay Singh asked Subba to explain his conduct. Mr. Singh, in his letter asked Subba what prompted him to make the statement. “I would like to know if you had indeed issued the statement, if so, what is the reasons for ignoring my advice,” he asked. “It has been brought to my notice that you issued a statement to the press against State Education Minister, Ripun Bora. You would recollect I had asked you not to make any statement on the issue,” Singh’s letter said, copies off which was selectively leaked to the media said. The AICC general secretary asked Subba to reply at the earliest. However, it has been learnt that Subba is yet to respond. Sources in the AICC said that the show cause notice was issued to Subba following a formal complaint by Bora. The latest incident could be traced to Subba’s press conference in the aftermath of the series of expose by CNN-IBN. The self-styled lottery baron had then issued an unsigned statement holding Bora responsible for plotting against him. Subba had dragged the Education Minister into the controversy by alleging that Bora helped the news channel to cover the story on the basis of false and fabricated records. “The Education Minister of Assam has levelled serious allegations against me in the past, which have turned out to be false. So much so he had made attempts on my life,” Subba had charged without naming Bora. Subba had filed an application with Lok Sabha Speaker last year seeking protection after a brawl with some local Congressmen, allegedly Bora’s supporters, in his constituency. Rivalry between Subba and the State Minister is a long drawn one and two sides have often traded charges against each other. Bora has yet another complaint pending against Subba, when he accused the MP of campaigning against the official candidate of the Party during the last Assembly election. The complaint is pending with the AICC Disciplinary Committee. The Minister had submitted a cassette of Subba speech to buttress his allegation. But Subba, who has withered many a storm seem unperturbed by the developments. The fact that he had circulated unsigned press note is likely to go in his favour. He has all but been given a clean chit by the Party and even Lok Sabha Speaker refused to institute any inquiry against him throwing the ball to the Supreme Court. In the meantime, Subba has produced a slew of documents in support of his claim that he is an Indian national. The documents also include a certificate of sorts issued by the Foreign Ministry of Nepal |
