Railway sets new target in Tripura
The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) has assured that the ongoing rail line
construction work between Manu to Agartala in Tripura would be completed by
January 26, 2008.
The assurance came at a high level review meeting between NFR officials and
two MPs, Khagen Das and Matilal Sarkar at Circuit House here recently. The
on-going construction from Manu to Ambassa in Dhalai district would be over
by August 15 this year while the extension work up to Agartala is scheduled
to be completed by January 26, 2008.
Chief Administrative Officer, Radheshyam and Chief Engineer (Construction)
and B Choudhury of NFR briefed the two MPs about the on-going progress of
the rail project in the meeting. The rail extension between Kumarghat to
Agartala had already been announced as a national project.
They informed that the NFR authorities have been trying hard to complete the
project on time. They said the laying of rail track would start soon.
Here it may be recalled that the on- going construction work was supposed to
be completed by March 31 this year but the NFR could not meet the
target. Then, they rescheduled the project saying that it would be completed
by December 31.Now, the NFR authorities have announced that the project is
scheduled to be over by January 26, 2008
