Resentment brewing among ultras in B’desh hideouts Statistics
say altogether 33 insurgents have managed to escape from their hideouts
and surrendered to the security forces to lead a normal life during the
last three months.Four hardcore militants of ATTF and NLFT-BM have
surrendered to security forces at Jirania in West Tripura district. Though
they did not deposit any weapon, the surrendered militants were active in
Jirania and its adjacent areas for quite a long time.During interrogation,
they revealed that resentment is brewing in hideouts in the wake of
shortage of food and basic needs. “More
armed cadres are planning to desert the camps to lead a normal life. But
cautious rebel leaders have stepped up vigil in and around the hideouts in
Bangladesh”, said Sabir Debbarma (27), a hardcore cadre of banned outfit
NLFT-BM who surrendered to police at Jirania. According
to intelligence sources, insurgents who are residing inside Bangladesh are
virtually fuming over the ill attitude of the rebel leaders that push them
to flee the camps.Besides, the Bangladesh Government is set to launch a
major crackdown against militants in their territory. The government has
reiterated that it would not allow Indian militants to use their soil. “Police
expect more surrenders in the days to come”, said a police official
engaged with intelligence branch on.
