Perceived as the ongoing domination tussle over Nongstoin, the West Khasi district headquarters an unprecedented aborted abduction bid was made on three West Khasi Students Union (WKSU) members from the busy Motphran point today. The three WKSU members, who managed to escape from the clutches of the unidentified youths, includes the Vice President, Mebankit Syiemlieh, the organizing secretary Donald Nongsiang and the Asst Finance secretary Kynton Mawsor. Coming close to the ongoing pshycological and physical skirmishes between the Khasi Students Union (KSU) and the West Khasi Hills Students Union (WKSU) in Nongstion last week, the Organising secretary of the WKSU, who had gone to the police for security cover told the sentinel, “ six unidentified youths were trying to drag us somewhere from the busiest mothphran point and in the scuffle, we managed to flee to different directions within the area that we escaped”. Expressing their surprise over the attempts before the police sleuths, the WKSU leaders said, “we were supposed to meet the Deputy Chief Minister at 2 P.M. on the issue related to the up gradation of the Nongstoin College”, adding, “ the miscreants attempt stall our efforts”.  Speaking to NNN, the General Secretary of the KSU Hamlet Dohling feigned ignorance over the developments. The police have yet to identify those miscreants involved in the case. Apparently, this came during the ideological conflict between the Khasi Students Union and the lesser-known and emerging West Khasi Hills Students Union (WKSU) to control Nongstoin, the district headquarters of West Khasi hills. It may be mentioned that the Note mentioning that there were tow physical manhandlings between the WKSU and KSU members in Nonstoion in the last seven days. One was during last Monday and the latest being last Friday scuffle during the KSU sponsored road blockade on the issue of influx. On one occasion this year, Mebankit Syiemlieh the WKSU Vice President had attempt on his life by unknown miscreants at his Shillong residence.
