Fresh trouble in Meghalaya

Trying to save its face from the embarrassments caused by the internal rebellion in the Congress led executive Committee in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) asked the JHADC members to take another 10 days to solv the leadership issue.

Following the defiance of the JHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Moonlight Pariat to the MPCC directive ‘to step down from the chair and make way for the newly elected Congress parliamentary Party (CPP) leader Edmund Lyngdoh, another CPP meeting was held today at the Chief Minister residence. It was held in the absence of Pariat and his camp.

All is clear that nothing is going right in the Congress camp and worst is because of the constititutional technicalities in the JHADC. As Pariat challenges the MPCC directives from his own constitutional strength, the CPP meeting resolved to give time to all the MDCs to resolved the leadership issue in ten days. The MPCC President O.L.Nongtdu was at his diplomatic best in answering to queries by saying, “ In the Congress, we have a leader in Sonia Gandhi but in Man Mohan Singh we have a prime minister”, adding, “this can also be applicable to the JHADC”.

As problems in the Congress camp in Jaintia Hills detoriated, the Chief Minister has called another CPP meeting of the Khasi Hills autonomous District Council (KHADC) tommorow. The KHADC is also plagued by similar leadership problems.
