NRL observes Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) 2010
In accordance with observation of Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight
2010 through out the country by all the Oil Industries under the aegis of
Petroleum Conservation Research Association(PCRA) , Numaligarh Refinery
Ltd too observed OGCF in a
befitting manner with a fortnight long
program involving various activities /programs with the participation and
involvement of wide cross section of people . Theme of this year “Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight” was
"Save fuel yaani Save Money".
The fortnight long program was ceremonially inaugurated on 15th
January'2010 at the Central Control Room of the Refinery where Oil
Conservation Pledge was administered and Messages received from Honorable
Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Murli Deora and Secretary ,
Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri R. S . Pandey for the
occasion were read out . As a part of the observance of Oil & Gas Conservation fortnight,
various programs and activities were taken up by NRL to spread
energy conservation awareness. A colorful bicycle rally was organized on
22nd January with spontaneous participation of wide section of
students, youth and teachers of nearby localities. A joyous environment
was seen everywhere, all the participants were very jubilant
and enthusiastic. The
rally covered a distance of about 18 kms where participants wearing caps
and banners embossed with the conservation theme and NRL logos were able
to effectively spread conservation messages in near by villages and
surrounding tea garden areas like Govindpur,Porabangla ,Letekujan,
Bishnupur ,Telgaram finally finishing with a large gathering in the field
of Rup Ram Hazarika High school Telgaram.
Attractive banners with the theme of the fortnight and different
Oil & Gas conservation slogans were displayed at
different strategic locations. Leaflets and booklets on Oil &
Gas conservation tips and message received from PCRA were distributed to
NRL employees as well as to local residents,
vehicle owners, truck drivers/operators , school students and
general public. A very useful and interesting awareness program was organized after the
rally where students , tomorrow’s architect of the society and
teachers from ten nearby schools participated. In the first part of
the program, a spot painting competition was organized at Panka Rupram
Hazarika High School followed by a speech competition. The best performing
students of the painting competition as well as in the speech competitions
were awarded in the concluding function held on 1st February in
Fire Station building within the Refinery premises by Director (Tech).
Students and local resident appreciated and expressed satisfaction for
this type of programs organized by NRL.
On 24th January’2010, a workshop on saving and judicious
use of fuel like –kerosene and LPG was organized at Ronbong LP School,
which was attended by around 100 housewives/ladies of nearby locality.
Housewives had lively interaction and discussed on various energy
conservation tips with NRL officials.
A interesting quiz competition was also held among the house wives
and prizes were distributed. From 19th to 23rd January, a joint Furnace and Insulation
survey of the Refinery was carried out as a step towards energy
conservation by the technocrats of Centre for High Technology (CHT), an
autonomous Body under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt of
India. A special team of technocrats of CHT and EIL also visited the
Refinery during the fortnight and made a presentation on 22nd
Jan on various avenues for energy conservation schemes possible to be
adopted in NRL in line with implemented in other Refineries of the
country. Apart from the above, various competition like slogan, suggestion essay
in the field of oil & gas and energy conservation were organized
amongst the employees of the Refinery also members of greater NRL family
including CISF and VKNRL employees. The concluding function was organized in Fire station building of NRL
during the morning hours of 1st February. Mr. N. K. Borthakur,
Sr. Manager, Technical Services
welcomed the gathering and gave the welcome address. Mr.
D.Chakravarty Director (Tech), Mr. N Bhakta Director (Fin), Mr. D Ghosh
General Manager (Operations) delivered useful speech on petroleum product
conservation. Lively talk on theme was delivered by the invitee students
expressing satisfaction for this type of endeavor undertaken by the
Refinery, which was strongly applauded by the attending audiences. A regular thought suggestion scheme for NRL employees on Energy saving,
conservation, cost reduction and improving overall productivity was
launched by unfurling a booklet by Director (T) , Mr. Dipak Chakravarty at
the function. Prizes of various competitions held amongst students and
employees were distributed in the function and few actively involved
teachers in the campaign ,of schools of nearby locality
were honoured with special mementos. |
