Nagaland tops RSBY enrolment chart

Nagaland has emerged as the State recording the highest enrolment percentage under Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) scheme and notched up an award in recognition of such performance.
Official sources said that the Union Government, which had been closely monitoring the implementation of the programme, a health insurance scheme for workers from unorganised sector with special reference to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families throughout the country, had announced this award at a workshop in New Delhi. The Project Officer of Nagaland Labour Directorate, Yanger Aier, received the award from Union Minister for Labour and Employment Malikarjune Kharge. Sources also said the state was able to achieve 80 per cent enrollment in the issuance of RSBY Smart Card to beneficiaries. Besides, Nagaland has also earned the distinction of being the best performing state in North-East in this regard. Around 3,000 beneficiaries were already availing free access to health aids, amounting to Rs 1.73 crore, through the empanelled hospitals in the State.
The scheme had been extended to four districts - Kohima, Peren, Phek and Mokokchung -, the sources said adding this would cover the entire state fiscal.
