DDK-G wins best documentary award North East News Agency The Guwahati
Doordarshan Kendra is an ever growing body going from strength to strength.
Since its start in 1985, it has been reaching out to the masses in the
farthest corners of the state of Assam. The Kendra is always in the lookout
for betterment in quality and some of the programmes beamed by it have
received high praise from all over the country. The award presentation
ceremony for the national level best documentary was held in DDK, Guwahati
recently. The award was bagged by producer cum director Dilip Goswami of
award winning documentary Muktipath. The 30 minute documentary focuses on
the relevance of Gandhian ideals in the present day. It was recently
adjudged the best national documentary in the category of Gandhian
philosophy. Eight crew members of Muktipath were also rewarded for their
efforts. Station Director, DDK-G S. T. Sailo said at the award performance
that DDK-G now enjoys coverage of over 79 per cent of the states
geographical area and 83 per cent of the total population. Mr. Sailo also
revealed that DDK-G is the only regional Kendra to have regular news
bulletins in the morning. Assam is a land of co-existence of many cultures
and communities. Catering to the needs of the diverse sections of the
populace is in itself a praiseworthy achievement. |
