BJP
slams Centre for announcing High Court for Nagaland at poll time
The Centre’s announcement
to set up a high court in Nagaland barely a fortnight ahead of polls there
drew flak from the BJP which asked the Election Commission to take
cognizance of the matter. The party questioned the timing of Law Minister H
R Bhardwaj’s announcement to set up high courts in all north-eastern
states and alleged that the UPA government remembers the region only when
polls are announced there.
“We would urge the Election Commission to take cognizance of the
announcement by the Government during election time and initiate appropriate
action,” party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here.
Bhardwaj recently announced his government’s plans to set up separate high
courts in all North-Eastern states, the first of which he said will come up
in Nagaland soon.
