Quest for peace

A lot is being said about the latest round of peace talk between the Centre and NSCN (IM). Adjectives starting from inconclusive to failure were freely used to describe the outcome of the meeting. Some people even questioned of holding such talks while the solution appeared to be as distant as it was in the beginning of the ongoing peace process. But in their hurry to see a peaceful Nagaland, these people perhaps forgot that solution of the problem which is really very complex in nature, could not be achieved overnight. Time is indeed needed to solve such vexed problems. Expecting a solution of the Naga problem within a time frame is unrealistic and may not be lasting. It would be better for those people to remember that their unrealistic hurry might actually derail the peace process. They should better remember that the greatest achievement of the ongoing peace process is to restore confidence between the two sides. Mutual understanding between the two sides have reached to a state that instead of accusing each other, both the Centre and the NSCN (IM) are trying to reach to a settlement which will be lasting, proper and be able to address the genuine grievances of the people of Nagaland. The critics have also forgotten that the two sides have agreed to meet again at the end of the month in their quest for an amicable solution of the vexed problem. It is now the duty of each and everyone to support the ongoing peace process wholeheartedly so that permanent peace does not elude Nagaland as well as the North-East any more.
