Mega Miss North East

The third edition of Mega Miss North East contest organised recently in Guwahati by Mega Entertainment gets terrific response.

It has taken Mega Miss North East contest only two editions to become the leading beauty pageant of the North-East. The third edition organized recently in Guwahati also got terrific response. The pageant organized by Mega Entertainment in association with Rajbari Nattaraj Troupe and Purnima Handicraft, saw 17 talented young omen drawn from all over the region contesting for the title.

All the 17 short listed girls got month-long free training on beauty and grooming, personality development and fitness. Besides, the girls also went for an exposure trip to Kamakhya temple and Madan Kamdev where they went through a video shooting session. The video was displayed during the final pageant. Prior to the show, Dior conducted a day long grooming session where the girls were briefed on skin care, make up and beauty enhancement. All the 17 contestants received gift hampers from Dior.

Dior and Big Idea were the main sponsors of the final pageant. Gravity Media of Mumbai, Zoom Colour Prints and Sukam were the co-sponsors of the event. The event got underway with a mind blowing dance act on A. R. Rehman’s Vande Mataram performed by Red Wings. Simultaneously, the participants assembled for the traditional dress round and introduced themselves to the audience and the five jury members. Traditional dress round was a huge success as girls dressed in multi-coloured ethnic outfit walked down the wonderfully designed stage.

The evening wear round followed the traditional dress round. In this round, the girls put on artistically embroidered gowns. Judged on these two rounds, the final ten were selected. These ten young women were then subjected to question-answer round that tested their mental ability and confidence level. Before the winners were declared, six sub titles were announced. Deepti Devi of Jorhat won the Big Idea Miss Personality title. The Zoom Miss photogenic was grabbed by Soma Sen of Guwahati. Miss Beautiful Ten title was clinched by Merun Chakma of Tripura. L. Priyanka of Guwahati bagged the Best Evening Wear title, Th. Antara Devi of Manipur was adjudged Miss Catwalk and Sangeeta Pait of Guwahati won the Miss Beautiful Skin title.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for – the winner of Mega Miss North East contest. It was Miss Personality Deepti Devi wore the coveted crown this year. Miss Catwalk Antara Devi was declared first runner-up while Papori Basumatary from Goalpara was adjudged second runner-up. Miss Mega North East Deepti Devi won gift hamper from Dior worth Rs. 17000 while Antara and Papori received cosmetics worth Rs. 12000 and Rs. 6500 from Dior. But the most prized possession that the winners will cherish was the glittering tiaras given by Exotica NX and bought all the way from Bangkok. Winner Deepti Devi will also get her portfolio done free by Gravity Media, a Mumbai-based advertising agency. The three winners will also get a chance to participate in the Mega Model contest.

The quality of Mega Miss North East is improving with every passing year. It has already set a high standard to be called not      just the most coveted pageant in  the North-East but can match any other pageant held in other parts of the country. Credit should be given to Abhijit Singh an upcoming designer and brain behind the  whole show.
