ULFA targeting poor in Upper Assam Strange it may sound but the fact remains that the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has now started targeting even school teachers and small-time businessmen in Upper Assam areas. This fact came to light after a raid in Balideuri village under Dhakuakhana police station. The raid was on a tip off that a hard core militant Amit Dutta, wanted in connection with the murder of Sanjoy Ghosh was taking shelter in the house of one Kushal Kalita. The militant managed to escape after a brief exchange of fire. And the police picked up cash amounting to Rs 90,000, one camera, one blood pressure measuring instrument, seal and pad of ULFA used for serving extortion notes. From the documents recovered, the police came to know that the militant outfit has started targeting cross sections of people, including people belonging to the economically backward to boost its coffers.
