Out of the six present Congress legislators, five were given seats in their constituencies while decision was yet to be taken on who would contest from the CLP leader Zakhu Hlychho’s Saiha constituency. A number of new faces have got Congress tickets this time while former Finance Minister, a veteran Congress leader and state PCC treasurer John Lalsangzuala and many former ministers and speakers were denied tickets. Meanwhile, the opposition Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) also announced the names of all its candidates excepting from Phuldungsei constituency vacated recently by its legislator J Lalthangliana who decided to contest from the constituency as the ruling MNF candidate. MPC president Lalhmingthanga would contest from Longlei South constituency and Lalfakzuala former state Chief Secretary and chief ministerial candidate of the party would contest from Aizawl West-II constituency. Former Chief Minister Brig. T Sailo and two sitting MLAs were not given tickets.
