Manipuri students looted, assaulted in Bihar A large number of students from the North-Eastern States including Manipur on board a New Delhi bound train have been reportedly assaulted and looted by a group of robbers on November 12 while the train was passing through Bihar. According to the accounts given by some of the students who were robbed and assaulted, the unfortunate incident occurred at a secluded place near Ratanpur Railway Station, 4 kms off Patna, the capital of Bihar. They informed that the New Delhi bound Brahmaputra Mail was stopped by a group of Bihari men numbering around 1000 who were blocking the track. They entered each and every compartment of the train and singled out all the students from the North-East and subjected them to severe beating without giving any reason and looted all their money and other valuable possessions. Some of the students have been admitted in the hospital, they said. The assailants also made them to stand on the track for almost 3 hours. They further informed that the main target of the assailants were Assamese but on finding none in the train they started beating up all the students from the North East numbering some 200 on board that particular train.
