Govt to examine cases against Bodo leaders ADOPTING the policy which was adopted to bring back the Mizo rebels to mainstream, the Assam Government is hoping to satisfy the Bodo Liberation Tiger (BLT) and other Bodo groups, which are asking for withdrawal of cases related to the Bodoland movement. According to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi MNF-like policy sounds most suitable. But at the same time he made it clear that the State Government would have to examine the nature of the cases related to Bodoland movement including those charges pending against the BLT leaders. In all frankness he said that his Government was not opposed to withdrawal of cases and charges pending against the BLT leaders. A large number of cases, some of which are of heinous nature, are pending against BLT leaders and cadres because of their activities while carrying on with the armed struggle for a separate Bodoland State. Many more cases related to Bodoland movement are also pending against leaders and members of allies of the BLT including All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) etc. But the BLT and its allies have raised the demand for withdrawal of cases and charges related to Bodoland movement before formation of the interim Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
