Manipur students demand resignation of SPF ministry

Manipur Students Federation (MSF) has demanded resignation of the Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government headed by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh for its failure to protect human lives and book killers of the daughter of a State minister.

The  MSF said the SPF government was buying time in the probe into the killing of eight-year old Lungnila Elizabeth, daughter of State General Administration Minister Francis Ngainkna, and blamed the government for its failure to arrest and punish the killers of the girl.

The MSF said it would soon launch a series of agitation to demand immediate arrests of all those involved in the crime. Elizabeth was kidnapped on November four by unidentified militants who had demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh and her dead body was recovered from a place near her school on November 12. Official sources had earlier said one person involved in the kidnapping and killing of Elizabeth had been arrested and others involved in the crime identified.
