Education sector in Nagaland neglected: CGA STATE Governments in North-East have not paid enough attention to the education sector since independence and every year thousands of students migrate to other parts of the country for higher education. The
Committee on Government Assurances (CGA) has flayed the Nagaland Government
for paying scant attention to the education sector in the state. The
Committee in its recent report pointed out that it would not subscribe to
the view that Head masters or Assistant Head masters alone would be
sufficient to carry on the educational and administrative works in the
schools. The Committee directed for immediate framing of policies for
posting of Head Masters and Assistant Head Masters in all government high
schools. It also demanded clearance of proposals for creation of posts,
pending with the government at various stages. The Committee also expressed
dissatisfaction with the pace of Information Technology (IT) development in
the State and stated that e-governance was yet to take off in the State and
suggested that experts in the field of IT must be approached for preparing a
blue print for developing sector in the State. It directed the State
Government to submit its action taken report within three months. Tripura to
go mobile by January 2004 After Nagaland, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)
will provide mobile phone connections in Tripura from January. Cell phones
would be operational in the State latest by third week of January 2004.
Initially 6,300 mobile phone connections will be provided in Tripura. The
BSNL and Reliance will provide 95,350 mobile phone connections to seven
North Eastern States. |
