More Bio-Mass power plants for Tripura

AFTER the success of the one MW  Khetricherra biomass Gasifier Project in Chawmanu in Dhalai district, Tripura government is contemplating on setting up two more bio-mass project to meet the power requirements of the remote areas and to give fillip to development.

The new plants are proposed at Gandacherra and Sabroom using wood as a biomass. For the Raisyabari unit near Gandacherra, Rs 1.13 crore has been earmarked whereas in Lilagarh near Sabroom, a proposal   envisages an investment of Rs 30 lakh. The units will generate energy of 532 kilowatt and 100 kilowatt respectively.

The proposal will sent to the ministry of Science and Technology once it is cleared by the state’s Science and Technology Department. The Khetricherra biomass gasifier project, which was installed last year, runs on firewood and on a co-operative basis. It is the first  such non conventional unit in the North-East.
