Dimapur Bar demands Dimapur Bar Association has taken up once again the demand for separation of judiciary and executive. It is a long pending demand and the Bar wants the RIO government to act fast by amending the 1937 Rules for Administration of Justice and Police in Nagaland. In a memorandum to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie and Minister for Jail, Law & Justice, Yitachu, the association said that it requires independent minds of the Judges in dispensation of justice, and the said ‘independent minds’ of the Judges, magistrates and other judicial officers can be created only by way of separation of judiciary from the executive in the Government set-up. The Bar association
pointed out that an Independent Judiciary would be an asset as it would be
the “watchdog over the corruption, misappropriations, and injustice”
