The Church leadership in the North-East has taken a surprise decision that should gladden the RSS no end. It decided to throw its weight behind the demand to check illegal infiltration of the Bangladeshis into the region, particularly Meghalaya. Since the Church stands by the law of the land, its decision to oppose illegal infiltration is no surprise. But it does have far reaching significance since the RSS is the champion of the anti-alien case.
Archbishop of Shillong diocese, Rev. D Jala categorically stated that for
the well-being of the people of the North-East, ‘the church has agreed to
back the RSS to drive the Bangladeshis away’. |
