Rio calls on Nagas to work for integration of homeland

Nagas of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Myanmar are minorities in their own land, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio claimed at the 8th General Session of the Naga Hoho. Mr Rio alleged that Nagaland had been fragmented for administrative conveniences without any consideration for Naga sentiments and without bothering for their consent. Emphasising that Nagas needed to shed their narrow differences to usher in an era of peace and be in a better position to press for their goals, he said his government was even ready to step down if that would fecilitate a smooth transition to a new united stand among Nagas.

Earlier, Naga Hoho president M Vero, in his speech said without unity and a sense of forgiveness, Nagas could not achieve anything. He advised all not to destroy the Nagas because of personal or factional interest. He emphasised there was still time to make amends. The function was chaired by Naga Hoho speaker Krurovi. Naga Hohos of all tribes in the state along with those in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam were present on the occasion.
