Apang sees no Chinese intrusion

ARUNACHAL Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang denied there was any Chinese intrusion. He has not received any information from bordering districts so far about any intrusion. ‘’Neither have I received any report from the Centre in this regard,’’ he told reporters in the context of media reports that Chinese troops had intruded into India through Arunachal border on June 26, during Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s China visit.

If such a situation arose at any point of time, it would be duly tackled, he said after half an hour meeting with the BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu at the BJP headquarters.

Apang categorically denied that the NSCN (IM) played any role in toppling the Mithi government in the State. The Congress allegation in this regard was a result of utter frustration, he said. He also denied the charges of horse-trading while forming his government and invited the media to talk to every legislator individually. ‘’Our legislators are not cheap commodity,’’ he noted

Apang reportedly conveyed to BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu his desire to join the NDA and closely work with the Centre. He was accompanied on the visit by his cabinet colleagues and MLAs including Deputy Chief Minister K Dolo.

Naidu welcomed Apang’s desire to join the NDA but said a decision in this regard would be taken by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The BJP Chief emphasised that peace was essential for ensuring the prosperity of the people. BJP Vice-President and In charge for North-East Pyarelal Khandelwal was also present at the meeting.
