AAPSU roping in Apang

FOLLOWING the change of guard in the State, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has decided to request Chief Minister Gegong Apang to become the chairman of the core committee and help in the agitation against the settlement of Chakma and Hajong refugees. Apang’s predecessor Mukut Mithi was the chairman of the core committee, which comprised all political parties and was formed to take up the issue with the Centre and resolve the refugee problem, particularly prevent the inclusion of the refugees in the electoral roll as per the directives of the Election Commission. The decision was taken at a meeting of the AAPSU during which it was also resolved to urge the government to fulfil some of its pending demands relating to grievances of the student community including hike in stipend, creation of requisite infrastructure in Arunachal University. The AAPSU would also demand withdrawl of all pending cases against its leaders registered against them during their agitational programme, cancellation of trade licence issued to non-scheduled tribes  and 80:20 percent ratio in the recruitment of grade ‘A’ post including their promotional prospects.
