Under the instructions from the Union Home Ministry, the Manipur Government has stopped the release of funds sanctioned by the National Aids Control Society (NACO) to the State AIDS Control Society.  The Union Home Ministry has issued the instruction as a fair share of funds was taken away by some unseen forces. NACO had released Rs 2.40 crore to the SACS for the year 2001-2002.

Due to ban on releasing the funds, several projects have come to a halt.  The Home Ministry is adamant that no funds would be released till necessary investigations are over in this connection.
