Tripura Governor seeks people’s support to combat terrorism

While Tripura Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K. M. Seth stressed on the need of people’s involvement
in the counter insurgency operations, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has sought Centre’s cooperation in fighting terrorism in the North-Eastern region.

Inaugurating the ‘police week’ celebration lighting a lamp, the Tripura Governor further said that the Indian system always accept bona fide actions against the wrong doers. The Chief Minister, speaking on the same function, resented that though Chief Ministers of the region demanded that Central Government should consider the North-East militancy problem as a national problem, the response was not at all positive. Mr. Sarkar informed that after State Government’s repeated appeal to the extremists to come forward for talks, there was no response from the undergrounds.
