Tripura MP raises fake currency issue Rajya
Sabha MP from Tripura Khagen Das
expressed concern over
Pakistan-sponsored terrorists move to circulate high quality
fake Indian currency notes throughout the country. “The situation
reached such an alarming proportion that many a country has already
stopped accepting Indian 500 rupee notes, and in future many other
countries may follow suit”, he said
“The sinister design behind the circulation of fake Indian
notes in the Indian market is to ruin the country’s economy. Fake notes
are being confiscated by the police in more than 11 States including, the
North-East”, he said. The Tripura MP has informed the Rajya Sabha that
500 rupee notes worth one lakh can be obtained for Pakistani 5,000 rupees
currency. “The
nexus of the terrorists with
this activity has also repeatedly
come out,” said Mr. Das and sought the Government’s clarification on
the steps taken in this regard. He also wanted to know what measures had
been taken against the collaborators of the fake currency racket. The MP
resented that despite seizures of fake Indian currency and arrest of some
low-level culprits, the Government had not yet been able to stop the
menace effectively. | Tripura | North East Enquirer (Headlines) | Nena Home Page | |
