Missive to BDR

WHAT the Bangladesh army and the border police refuse to do, the villagers are willing to do: nab the Indian insurgents, who have become nuisance in their locality.

This is what people of Sahapur in Comilla district did with two activists of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT). Tipu Debbarma and Umaite Debbarma were at the receiving end of the ire of Sahapuris, who live close to the border. When these two worthies were attempting to sneak into Indian side quietly, the locals pulled them back and reportedly made them ‘taste their hospitality’.

Soon enough, the BDR picked them up and took them into their custody. On hearing about the development, the BSF sought a flag meeting with the BDR saying the meeting will enable a discussion on the modalities for the return of the ultras to Indian fold. Silence greeted the request. A formal protest note was delivered. Its fate was no different.
