Arunachal introduces new promotion scheme IN a sop to B, C and D categories of employees in Arunachal Pradesh four-month old BJP-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government has decided to offer two times bound promotions to them. According to Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo the move would benefit 95 per cent of the government employees and added that there would be two time bound promotions one after 12 years and the next after another 12 years of their service life. No separate departmental examination will be required. The main objective of the ACP scheme was to remove frustration among the employees due to lack of promotional opportunities, particularly at the lower level. This would help around 50,000 government employees under the Assured Career Progression (ACP) schemes, as per the recommendation of an expert committee headed by government commissioner Manoj Parida. It was a long pending demand of the 26 associations and trade unions. However,
the decision would cost more than Rs three crore to the government
exchequer annually. At a time when Arunachal Pradesh is already facing
financial crisis and has sought special assistance from the Centre to tide
over the crisis, the move will further burden the exchequer. |
