NMA delegation meets Khaplang in Myanmar

Close on the heels of the meeting between representatives of various Naga organisations and NSCN (IM), a four-member team of Naga Mothers Association (NMA), led by its president Padmashree Neidanuo Angami has gone to northern Myanmar to met S. S. Khaplang, chairman of NSCN (K). The NMA delegation would attempt to further consolidate the Naga re-conciliation process initiated by various Naga NGOs. The team would discuss the re-conciliation process to pave the way for finding an acceptable solution to the vexed Naga political problem. NMA, the apex Naga women’s organisation in the region, has been insisting on total halt to fratricidal killings among the Nagas and its representatives took part in the recent Bangkok discussions on re-conciliation process with senior NSCN (I-M) leaders. Both groups of the NSCN have reached ceasefire agreement with the Centre, but various political parties, NGOs, churches and State Government had urged them to declare ceasefire among themselves to restore complete normalcy, paving the way for a common platform to negotiate with the Centre to settle the Naga issue permanently.
