American Consul General in Kolkata Christopher J Sandrolini hinted at more US aid to Tripura. Mr. Sandrolini said he would submit a report on Tripura to the US Government in regard to investment by industrial houses of his country in the State. The natural resources in Tripura provided the potential in industrial development but insurgency and communication bottleneck were the major hurdles. The US investors, however, might be interested in setting up units in Tripura, if the market in neighbouring Bangladesh was opened up and a transit route through that country came into being, he said.
