‘Mukut Mithi Govt lacks transparency
Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Gegong Apang says State Government’s harsh austerity measures are nothing but an eye wash to deny its employees their rightful dues.

Former chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh Gegong Apang said there was lack of transparency in  the functioning of the Mukut Mithi ministry. Criticising recent decisions of the State Government on austerity measures, the chairman of the regional Arunachal Congress working committee said while the government was taking harsh economic measures against its employees the ministers and MLAs were being provided with different brands of high premium luxury cars as official vehicles. This was done against the practice of the Centre to use only ambassador cars as official vehicle for all dignitaries, even the Prime Minister, Mr. Apang contended.

Supporting the demands of Arunachal Secretariat Employees Association (APSEA) against the harsh economic measures of the State in the name of austerity, Apang said his party would urge the State to immediately restore the facilities provided to the government employees such as payment of bonus, summer and winter liveries as per entitlement. It may be mentioned here that the APSEA had launched a five-day pen-down strike which ended on February 8, in support of its demands.

The senior leader also alleged that Central funds meant for welfare schemes were not being properly used. “Being a special state, there has been no dearth of funds coming from the Centre and other agencies to Arunachal, but there has been no mechanism to utilise it judiciously,” Mr. Apang said. He alleged that there were reports about funds coming for various welfare schemes found its way to few pockets.
