Rangapahar Cantonment holds computer course convocation

A convocation ceremony for passing out of 22nd basic and 17th diploma computer course was held recently on the premises of army development group computer centre, Rangapahar cantonment. The presentation of certificates to successful candidates was done by Col B. K. Kalidhar CSO HQ IF (NE) and G. V. Reddy, general manager, telecom, Dimapur. In his address the chief guest applauded the achievement of Apibeni Yanthan for standing first in the order of merit in the basic computer course and Mili Devi for standing first in the diploma computer course. He also congratulated faculty headed by Tapan De and Major Shailaja Rakibe, officer in-charge-cum-secretary of training centre for smooth functioning of the Centre. He congratulated all students for having put first step in the right directions in the age of information and technology which is a media revolution of the new millennium. He emphasised the importance of e-governance and e-commerce. IT revolution has created the means to transform every facet of human life and facilitate a knowledge-based society. Nagaland is in no way lacking behind and it is changing life and style of society. The institute run under aegis of ADG centre.

Rangapahar is running three months certificate courses in computer application and diploma certificate for girls and boys. The aim of running these courses is to impart computer education to local civilians and keep them abreast with the latest trends and development and help them build a sound foundation for higher computer education. These courses are recognised by the department of higher technical education, Government of Nagaland. Three basic courses and one diploma course are being run simultaneously with strength of approximately 22 students each. These courses are heavily subsidised, charging course fee of Rs. 1225 payable in three instalments. First instalment of Rs. 425 is to be paid at the time of entrance and two other instalments of Rs. 400 each after first and second month respectively. The fresh batch for year 2002 will start from May 6. The minimum qualification is 10th pass. Application forms for next course will be available from April 5 to 20 at a cost of Rs. 5 at TCP No. 1 Rangapahar.

Application form with certified copy of 10th pass mark sheet and two passport size photographs duly attested should be submitted at TCP No. 1 by April 25. As limited seats are available selection will be done on merit-cum-first-come-first serve basis. List of selected candidates will be displayed at TCP No. 1 from 9 am on April 30 onwards. Selected candidates will be required to produce the original copy of their 10th class mark sheet for verification on the first day along with Rs 425 as first instalment of course fee. Candidates will have to make their own management for transport outside Rangapahar. A central bus service will be provided inside Rangapahar from TCP No. 1 to computer centre on all working days. These courses are becoming popular for their quality of instructions and excellent state of the art computer laboratory.
