The Ministry of Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation has sanctioned Rs three crore for the North-Eastern states to setup eight bamboo mat productions centre. The funds would be equally distributed and utilised by the North-Eastern states, including Mizoram, Tripura, Mehalaya and Assam for the development of bamboo centers in their respective regions, Information and Public Relations Director Sailo informed. Two bamboo centres would come up in each of these states, he added. Mr. Sailo also informed that the Ministry of Rural Development has directed the Food Corportion of India (Mizoram) to release 409 tones of common rice to Aizawl and Serchip districts of the State. The food grains would be released within three months, he pointed out. He also added that Rs 64.99 lakh has been released as Central assistance for the implementation of Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana (SRGY) in these districts. The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilised for approved items of works under the programme of SGRY.
