‘SA spends Rs one cr for developmental work’ Every year Rs. One crore is being spent by Salvation Army (SA) to carry out various developmental projects in Mizoram. This has been revealed by the army’s international leader General John Larsson said. The fund is meant to encourage and project the talents of youngsters in Mizoram, Mr. Larsson claimed.Mr. John further informed that SA has devoted this year to children and youth and the organisation intends to extend help in every possible way to the young generation. He further claimed that ''While many Christian missions work independently, SA is working to bring all the churches together from across the world.'' He also said the uniform that Salvationists wear also make them unique. ''Unlike other Christians denominations, wives of SA officers are also fully ordained priests and can perform every function that their husbands do,'' he pointed out. ''This is the only mission army in the world, where the women have ranks and leadership to serve the people,'' he said. General Larsson was on a four-day trip to Mizoram recently. AR busts fake recruitment rackets Assam Rifles along with Nagaland police apprehended five persons from Dimapur in Nagaland in connection with issuing of fake provisional appointment letters in the name of Assam Rifles. These fake letters were issued after collecting Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 from unemployed individuals after luring them with jobs, an Assam Rifles spokesman said. The main agent involved in this racket is known to be Michael alias Thump, he added. Superintendent of Police, Dimapur has said that the entire gang involved in issuing bogus provisional appointment letters were in police custody. In another incident, vigilance personnel of Hq DGAR in a recruitment rally at Kanchanpur in Tripura during January this year apprehended seven personnel with fake educational certificates issued by Abaini Mohan Nath.
