Vigilance strengthened at Indo-Bangla border

The BSF has stepped up vigilance along the Indo-Bangla border to thwart the designs of militants and foreign intelligent agents to make inroads and create grounds for disruptive activities through the porous Indo-Bangla border.

BSF DIG S. C. Srivastava said that the ISI of Pakistan was trying to penetrate deeper into the North-East and create more track and understanding with other insurgent groups of this region.

However, he said that the situation in the bordering areas was well under control and patrolling have been intensified. “Some sensitive pockets have been identified and additional troops deployed there”, the DIG said. It is believed that the ISI is operating in the region, not only with the help and understanding of militant groups active in the North-East, but also with that of some Muslim fundamentalist outfits, operating in the area.
