Manipur should exploit its potentials: Governor

Greeting the people on the occasion of Republic Day, Manipur Governor Ved Marwah has opined that India is today one of the nuclear powers in the world and claimed that the country had amazingly progressed in various sectors including science and technology leaving a deep impression on the global scenario.

Claiming that the Constitution of India has served as the beacon of light to India’s democracy, the Governor said that it was on this day that India adopted the Constitution 52 years ago and the occasion marked the beginning of a grand endeavour to rebuild the society in a humane and just manner free from social discrimination, economic inequalities and religious prejudices and observed that contrary of skeptical outlook of many other nations it has progressed into a vibrant democracy.

Mr. Marwah felt “Today is the time for self introspection about the state of the nation and take an objective stock of our achievements and resolve to collectively face up the challenges that stare at us”. Though claiming that Manipur has made significant progress in various fields since its merger with the Indian Union in 1949, the Governor observed that the progress is not up to the desired level when compared with other states. Manipur should exploit all her potentials to become a leading State of India, exhorted the Governor.

Observing that the Manipuri people have made a positive impact in the field of sports, arts and culture not only in India but in the international arena, the Governor said the State had immense tourism and power potential. Urging the people of the State to look inwards, Mr. Marwah called upon the people to rededicate themselves to the task of nation building on the occasion of Republic Day.
