“Consolidate Naga Peace campaign” The outgoing
Governor feels that ‘irrational principles’ will not help the Naga
cause. While
addressing
the official farewell, outgoing Nagaland Governor Om Prakash Sharma has
urged the people to further consolidate peace and reconciliation campaign
for a lasting solution to Naga issue and asked the State Government and
security forces to deal the disruptive forces with firm hands. When every
section of Naga society was crying for peace and total halt to criminal
activities in the State, certain elements continued their violent acts
without giving any heed to the people’s aspiration, the Governor said. Mr.
Sharma opined that while Naga Hoho, churches, NGOs and tribal leaders had
been working hard for a reconciliation in the Naga society without any
precondition, such elements were harping on some “irrational
principles” which would not help in reaching a final settlement of the
Naga issue. Asserting that to arrive at any solution involvement of the
people and their elected Government was imperative, he called upon the
State Government to continue its development work and deal the disruptive
forces with firm hands. |
