ST on medicines reduced in Arunachal

Responding to the forceful plea of the traders, Arunachal Pradesh government has reduced the rate of Sales Tax (ST) on drug and medicines from the prescribed eight to four per cent and also exempted sugar, fabrics and tobacco from the purview of tax.
Tax and revenue commissioner Manish Gupta, in a release, today sought the co-operation of the entire business community for introduction of simple and transparent tax administration for the welfare of the state.While pleading the dealers to voluntarily comply with ST provisions, register themselves and pay tax, the commissioner said gazette notification and Press releases on ST, including reduction of ST on LPG should be treated as information for the public, including dealers.
