NSCN (K) asks UNPO not to back NSCN (IM)

The Khaplang faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) has asked the Unrepresented Nations People’s Organisation (UNPO) to stop supporting the NSCN (IM) without knowing the ‘ground realities’ of the State. Akaho Assumi, secretary in-charge of ‘ministry of information and publicity’ of the NSCN-K urged the UNPO to come to Nagaland to collect first hand information about current situation in the State, which is going through a turmoil because of fratricidal killings among rival Naga groups.

The NSCN-K alleged that the Nagas have suffered more at the hands of the NSCN (IM) than at the hands of the forces of occupational countries. The outfit stated that it was not wise on  part of the UNPO or any other NGO at that to promote any organisation like the NSCN (IM) from faraway places without having proper knowledge about the situation.

The NSCN-K alleged that NSCN-IM leaders Issac Swu and Th Muivah came to Nagaland   to make public announcement about their decision to keep Nagas disunited. The group led by S S Khaplang alleged that the  NSCN-IM
took bribe from S C Jamir to compel the NGOs in Nagaland to  boycott the last election in that State to ensure that Mr. Jamir remained in power.
