Reconciliation among Nagas tops NSF agenda The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the apex students’ body of the State, has categorically stated that it will never allow any individual interest take over the interest of the Nagas coming together. NSF president Achumbemo Kikon expressed dismay over the manner in which the Naga Reconciliation Committee (NRC) was constituted by the Naga Hoho without the confidence and consensus of other mass-based organizations and subsequent assertion by the NSCN (IM) of non-cooperation towards the Commission. He said "We should be transparent in our effort towards the reconciliation process" as it has received some setback. He said the NSCN (IM) also reacted "too nasty" on the issue going to the press, which should be amicably settled over the negotiation table. He stressed the need for clearing certain decks before the Naga Hoho’s reconciliation process since the reconciliation is to bring understanding among the various Naga groups. The Federation insisted on convening a broad-based meeting of all the Naga representatives, tribal Hohos and NGOs to take a stock of the latest development of the reconciliation process. The NSF has also fervently appealed to Hmar and Dimasa communities of
Assam to stop blooshed and resume negotiation to restore peace and normalcy. |
