Crucial meet on NE situation Centre and five insurgency-affected states of the North-Eastern region will sit together on July 15 to chalk out new strategies and to review the prevailing law and order situation. Chief Secretaries and DGPs of Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura and Nagaland will participate in the meeting. The meeting will be chaired by Union Home secretary V K Duggal. Union Home Minister Shivraj V Patil is likely to address the meeting. The meeting would discuss the prevailing insurgency problems and their effect to the internal security in the five NE states and Indo-Bangla border problems. New strategies to tackle these menaces are likely to be formulated.The meeting will review the cases of extremists surrendering before the police, mordernisation of state police and security forces and improved coordination and information sharing among the NE states about activities of the various insurgent outfits.
