AGP accuses Sangma

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has accused former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma of conspiring with the Congress
to weaken the regional forces of the North East.
According to AGP president Brindabon Goswami, Mr Sangma had always been trying to weaken regional forces in Assam and the North East in the guise of unity of non-Congress and non-BJP forces. Mr Sangma has been trying to bring various smaller parties of the North East under one platform unsuccessfully and had held several meetings without the AGP, he alleged.
In the latest round of such talks, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta joined a breakfast meeting with Mr Sangma which was also attended by CPI and other smaller parties. This has angered the AGP president, political observers claimed.

In fact the two expelled MLAs had already joined the NCP and in a recent public meeting both shared the podium with Mr Sangma and launched a blistering attack in the AGP president. Mr Sangma, was desperate to return to the centrestage of
national politics after being at the wilderness for more than a year and was 'working overtime on behalf of the UPA to get rid of' regional forces, Mr Goswami said.
