Homage to late Laldenga Mizoram Governor A R Kohli, Chief Minister Zoramthanga and his cabinet collegues paid homage to the late Laldenga, Mizo National Front founder president and the first chief minister of Mizoram state, on the occasion of his 15th Death Anniversary. Speaking at a function, Mr Zoramthanga said 'Laldenga is still living in the memories of Mizos because he was the one who showed the Mizos the peace path and nationalism'. 'Many government has made a number of peace accords, but only the Mizo accord is successful. Since Laldenga was the architect of the peace accord, he deserves to be called the Father of Peace,' Zoramthanga told the crowd of ministers, MLAs, party workers including Laldenga's families. A R Kholi in his speech he pointed out that Laldenga not only fought for the peace and freedom for the Mizos, but also wanted the Mizoram to be one of the best prosperous states in the country.Apart from the chief minister and the governor other party cadres including the opposition state Congress president paid homage to the leader. Laldenga died at the London's Heathrow Aiport on July seven,1990, on his return from the USA, where he went for medical treatment of cancer.
