10 KVKs proposed in Arunachal Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) will establish 10 new Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in addition to four sanctioned KVKs in Arunachal. This was the outcome of discussion held between Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Tsering Gyurme and ICAR Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension) P Das. Appreciating the Centre's decision to establish new KVKs under 100 per cent central funding, Mr Gyurme disclosed that detailed modalities for the establishment of Kendra's were being worked out through agriculture department and ICAR. Besides, agricultural officers, the ICAR North East region director, the NRC (Yak) director and the ICAR joint director (Basar) were present, according to official sources. The dignitaries also discussed ways and means to strengthen Basar ICAR centre as well as research and development support for temperate fruits under Mini Mission-I scheme of technology mission.The ICAR NE region director agreed in principle to strengthen the Basar ICAR centre and stressed on development of need based R & D programme. The director also disclosed the approval for creation of 10 temporary posts of junior scientist or research associates under Basar ICAR centre, sources added.
