Tripura Power Minister Manik Dey demanded introduction of uniform tariff for transportation of power all over the country. Dey made this demand in the meeting of North-Eastern Regional Electricity Board (NEREB) in Shillong. Dey said at the meeting Tripura and other NE States pay thirty paisa per unit of power as transportation tariff while the other northern, southern and western States pay only four paisa per unit of power transportation though the transportation cost in the north eastern States is maximum. The Tripura Power Minister also called for linking all the State capitals of the region with a common grid to ensure that power service remained uninterrupted for emergency supply. Dey also proposed for immediate repairing of transmission line of Loktak-Jiribam hydroelectricy project in Manipur  to ensure that Tripura gets its due share.
