Other wise the 30-year old mother and her 15-year old daughter would have remained in dire straits one doesn’t know how long. Ramesh Singh, who worked as a teacher at Victor School was the villain of the piece. Credit for ‘saving’ them goes to Aizawl Thupuan, a Mizo daily in Aizawl. The paper reported how the mother and daughter were enticed by Ramesh and how they went in search of him to Bangalore in February 2003. The police swung into action. But made no progress in the absence of any leads to their new whereabouts. Break through in what appeared as a blind case some time in April. The relatives received a letter from the mother on how they were duped and how they would be sold if Rs. 4000 was not paid as ransom. The letter also said that they were held at a small village about 25 km from Bangalore. The letter virtually gave the address. Mizoram DGP M Tumsanga tried to contact fellow Mizo and DGP, Karnataka, HT Sangliana. But he was away in Delhi. Tumsanga then spoke to another Mizo IPS officer, Rokhuma Pachuau, in Bangalore. And the
