NAGALAND cabinet has decided to revoke detention under National Security Act and to withdraw criminal charges against 56 political detenues in the State. The cabinet meeting held on December 20 last year had decided to constitute a sub-committee to go into the background of the detentions and criminal cases and make recommendations in order to consider the release of political detenues.

A sub-committee was formed, including state Home Minister T M Lotha, Agriculture Minister Muska Sumi, Rural Development Minister Imkong Imchen, Transport Minister N Yeangphong, Tourism Minister Vatsu Meru, Higher and Technical Education Minister Deo Nukhu and School Education Minister P Chuba.
