Arunachal pensioners body meet held
TEZPUR, April 10— The first general meeting of Arunachal Pradesh Government Pensioners Association(APGPA) Tezpur was held at the Asomiya club premises here under the chairmanship of Sri T.C.Hazarika. Sri J.C.Bhattacharjee along with Sri B.P.Baruah who drafted the 23 page constitution read out the same and was adopted by the general meeting after threadbare discussion on each of the provisions of the Constitution. An executive committee of the association was also formed by the general body with Sri T.C.Hazarika as the president, Sri Girish Borah, vice president, Sri Bipin Chandra Mahanta as general secretary. Sri C.W.Chakhap, Deputy Resident Commissioner of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh ,Tezpur speaking on the occasion as guest of honour assured the association of full support from the state government. The meeting was attended by a large number of pensioners and family pensioners of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh from Tezpur, Jamuguri, Biswanath Charali, Balipara and other places. Meanwhile the casual employees of Rural works department and public works department of East Kameng and Along districts of Arunachal Pradesh are passing their days in agony for not getting their salaries from the State government for months together following which their children had to be dropped from the school. A spokeman informs this scribe that the employees after completing 20 to 30 years in service in respective department their services have also not been regularized following which they approached the Itanagar bench of Guwahati High Court where Justice N.S.Singh directed the Arunachal government to clear their dues and to show cause in connection with their prayer for regularization. He further said that after an elapse of several months the order of the High court has not been implemented following which the employees has to sought other means to arrange a two square meals a day for their family members.
