Rs 201 cr for NE water supply GUWAHATI,
April 10: The
Centre has made a total allocation of Rs 201 crore for Rural Water Supply
programme for the north-eastern States during 2001-2002, stated a PIB
release. Out of this total amount Rs 139.57 crore has already been
released to the north-eastern States up to January this year. The amount
for the North-east States comprise ten per cent of the total Central Plan
outlay of Rs 2010 crore for the Rural Water Supply programme during
2001-2002. Under the sector reforms introduced for institutionalizing
community participation in Rural Water Supply programme, 62 Pilot
districts have already been sanctioned for implementations. Eleven such
projects belonged to the north-eastern States. Of this three are in Assam,
two each in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim and one each in Meghalaya,
Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland. A total amount of Rs 33.82 crore has been
released to these projects. |
